fuckin’ yes. I believe in your rights, dont get me wrong, but seriously parading it everywhere gets annoying after a while. Im surprised im still on tumblr with how many times i see this stuff on my dash :|

Honestly, this. This is why things like pridefests and pride parades just, well, annoy me. There is awareness, and then there is ‘so much it’s just really stupid and irritating’, and ‘pride’ has gone way past the dividing line into the bad side.

What they meant: Blah blah blah I’m sick of LGBTQ people actually being proud of who they are instead of hiding it from me!

Okay seriously. Pride exists because queer people are told every fucking day that we are shameful, our existence is shameful, our love is shameful, our community is shameful, every fucking thing we do is shameful, and we need a time to come together and say “No, fuck you, we have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of.
Pride isn’t just about letting straight people know we exist, it’s about showing them that we’re sick of hiding, sick of hating ourselves, and sick of trying to change just so they’ll like us.
When I can go a week without thinking about how much fucking easier my life would be if I could just be straight, without being reminded that there are millions of people out there who think I deserve to die, who will kill me just for who I’m attracted to, when I can go a week without hearing someone complain about how being mistaken for being a lesbian is the worst thing that could happen to them, when kids stop feeling like they’d be better off dead than queer, then maybe, maybe you could say that pride doesn’t have a purpose.
Except even then it will need to exist to celebrate the things we’ve overcome to get there in the first place.
So fuck you.

i’m fine with you being gay as long as i don’t have to know you’re gay
shut up str8ie

Heeeey, OP and everyone going “this this this this this~”? You’re completely fucking terrible, congratulations.

omg my life. Fucking community college, and old student. They have a damn input for everything -_- Shut your middle aged mouths.

Oh hahahahahahahahahahaha, yeah. Fuck you and all the other young know nothings that think this shit is funny.

You wanna know why us older students have so much “input”?

There are two reasons.

1. We have more life experience that can actually add to what is being taught in class.

and

2. You young fuckers just sit there in your jaded know it all clouds of apathy and don’t contribute shit to class other than constant toe tapping and sighs of exasperated impatience.

Ragging on the elderly is beyond fucked up and I swear if there was ever generations of young Americans that have it coming it is the current younger generations.

^ ^ non-traditional students fucking rule.

If this were about teenagers everyone would be screaming about ageism.

I think the reason I find geek culture so obnoxious at times to engage in is because the people are for the most part the same privileged dips that inhabit mainstream culture, but with the added detriment of a victim complex. They’re still largely white and center their race, they’re still largely straight and center their sexuality, they’re still largely cis men who center their gender. They challenge nothing about the status quo and what bodies get to be placed at the center of it, they offer nothing radically different to the typical narratives about which groups of people are and are not important and they can be just as hostile to groups who try to find a place in their space as the mainstream is, in some cases even worse. But for some reason they think the fact that they like Battlestar Galactica instead of Monday night football makes them radical alterna-gods who are too good for this sinful Earth.

Blah Blah Blah… Racism… Blah Blah Blah … gender bullshit.

Geek Culture is “obnoxious” to you because thinking is “work” to you, and FUN for us.

The fact is geeks don’t give a fuck about culture at all. For the most part we were excluded from it by everyone, as your anti-geek bias just goes to show. We’re not even welcome in your little section of hell.

How the fuck can a member of any victimized group dare claim that another group has a “victim complex”? How can you try and throw that proverbial stone and not expect to have your own sins written in the proverbial sands.

The fact is, that Geeks have no race, gender, gender preference, or other social entanglements, and as a result… WE DON’T HESITATE TO CALL YOU ON YOUR BULLSHIT. What’s worse, is that we do it with empirical and undeniable FACTS backed up by logical and reasonable science. That true or false bottom line that doesn’t give a fuck what you “feel” because at the end of the day, our way is the only one that works.

THAT is what has you butt hurt about geek culture. That and the fact that we can do more with our smartphones while we are drunk, than all of you can do together with room full of supercomputers.

You want to be accepted by geek culture? Put in the effort to learn about how things work, or listen to those who do.

As a geek, there is NOTHING cooler than some one who can teach me something I didn’t know, and nothing more obnoxious than some one who criticizes that instinct with absolutely nothing to offer of their own.

The rest of your biases are just that… YOUR BIASES.

Go read a book, bitch.

Oh.

Congrats to the angry geek who just proved OP’s point.

The Driver Privilege Checklist

bohemianarthouse:

This is a reminder to all of those who have a car. Be mindful of those of us who bike please.

what is this now, another ~unique~ privilege checklist, I see?

1. “driver privilege” more like class privilege, jfc

2. driving is not a choice for many people. not everybody lives in a place that has good (or any) public transit, sidewalks, or bike-able distances between work, home, and the grocery store. it’s a sign of class privilege to be able to choose to live close enough to work and amenities (supermarket, pharmacy) so that you can get there without driving. the fact that the infrastructure of the U.S. and Canada in suburbia and exurbia caters toward car-owners only is not a matter of some sort of systemic bias against cyclists, it’s a matter of systemic class privilege.

2a. not everybody lives in an urban metropolis where everything you need can be found in a half-mile radius of your home. “a car is seen as a necessity” has this person ever BEEN out to the country? or someplace where it snows for half the year and the roads are barely (if even) plowed?

2b. important sidenote: not everybody is physically capable of riding a bike, due to various levels of (dis)ability.

3. obviously it’s fucked up to victim-blame cyclists who are killed by cars, but how does that make drivers privileged and cyclists oppressed based solely on mode of transportation and not infrastructure or class-related issues?

4. wait, setting this up as a privilege checklist implies cyclists are systemically oppressed based on their mode of transportation. seriously? relating it as a subset or manifestation of class-based privilege/oppression I can grok, but making ~driver privilege~ its own thing just does not gel with me. sounds like bourgie white hipster cyclists who can afford cars but choose to ride fixies instead are trying to jump on the oppression boat because they can’t understand the difference between “people being assholes” and systemic oppression.

5. STOP WITH ALL THE SPESHUL AND UNIQUE PRIVILEGE CHECKLISTS ALREADY not everything is its own completely separate axis of oppression

oh my god is this real life

Ace-exy: (TMI post) My gynaecologist said:

I was going to list seventeen billion reasons why someone who generally likes being penetrated during sex might not enjoy a visit to a gynecologist.

Instead, I’ll just provide a general axiom:

Just because someone likes some things inserted into [pick an orifice!] in some situations with some people, doesn’t mean they like any thing inserted into [that very same orifice!] in any situation with any person.

ace-exy:

“I’ve never heard of anyone liking visits to the gynaecologist.”

I mean, obviously I can’t stand it but I thought that was because I never have (penetrative) sex.

So, how can women who have that kind of intercourse find it THAT uncomfortable when it’s a doctor doing it instead of a toy or a real…

Oh god reading the reblogs on this is making me so fucking angry. Queer is not an identity you dumb fucks it is a homophobic slur. People who id as queer are not ~outside the norm~ there is nothing abnormal about being gay and it’s really fucking homophobic to say so. If you want to be “radically progressive” (gag) then call yourself ~radikewl~, not queer.
Fuck white man academia. It’s impossible to reclaim a slur that’s been distorted into such a controlling, othering ball and chain.

And apparently people who experience no same-sex attraction are allowed to be as homophobic as they want, provided they call it “activism.” And don’t you dare call them out on it because that makes you worse than homophobic straight people. Yep.

oh man, just imagine! someone telling me i don’t count as queer (because i only seek relationships with people of the opposite sex)!
and here i was thinking being verbally and physically harassed was bad. that really puts my suffering in perspective, doesn’t it?

can’t you just enjoy the series the way the author intended it to be? i don’t even know how some of these people came up with these pairings.

i know you like gay / lesbian couples, but none of the characters in that series were homosexual. at all. i’ve got nothing against gays, but those characters are straight. ._.

srsly bro, that’s weird.

no stop

What about non-canon het pairings? Oh wait those aren’t as weird I guess. |D
